ANDREW SHORTRIED, BCOM, CFA MANAGING DIRECTOR | CCO
Andrew oversees all business related to corporate and investment operations, compliance, infrastructure, and financial performance. Andrew is also the company’s Chief Compliance Officer, and Ultimate Responsible Person. He is responsible for managing all client portfolios and ensuring that investment decisions and the actions of the firm as a whole meet or exceed all required standards of practice.
Andrew was educated at the University of Victoria and the ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong. He graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in International Business and began his business career in private capital, working as an associate at a Hong Kong based firm focused on education and technology investment in mainland China (PRC). Upon returning to Canada he began his career at RBC, before leaving in 2004 to co-found Wellington West Asset Management as COO. Being involved in every aspect of the construction and strategy of this start up gave Andrew the opportunity to combine front office investment management and trading experience with the back office operations, compliance, and technology experience of running a full service asset management firm.
Andrew is a CFA charterholder and presently serves as President of CFA Victoria, an organization that he has been involved with since 2004. He passed the CSC in 2003, CPH in 2004, and Derivatives Fundamentals Course in 2007. He also served as Treasurer of Literacy Victoria from 2006 until 2008 and is an active supporter of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. In 2009 he joined the Board of Advisers of The University of Victoria's Faculty of Business.
